Greetings to all our BCBC Family:
Rom 13:1-3 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
We believe it is important to cooperate with our President’s recommendation for all of us to avoid being in groups of 10 or more at this time, due to the spread of Covid 19.
It is our civic duty as a people, and as a church, to honor our governmental authority in matters not contrary to the Word of God. Government is essentially designated by God for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. I have confidence that our government is acting to protect our population, and we certainly want to aid in that Divine trust.
Last Sunday morning I told you we would continue to meet, unless there was a mandate otherwise. On Monday morning I heard that the CDC wanted to limit groups to 50, and I thought, “Ok. We will have a service for those whose names start with A-J, and then a second service for those whose names start with K-Z.”
Then a couple hours later, I heard the President’s new recommendation of assembling 10 or less for the next 15 days, based upon the CDC’s strong recommendation.
So here we are. The Deacons and I agree we should honor the government’s recommendation, and are therefore cancelling all public services until after April 1, 2020.
By or on April 1st we will know whether or not this recommendation will continue or be lifted.
Until then, the Lord willing, our messages will be live streamed, or at least audio recorded and uploaded to our website, bcbaptistchurch.org. I will be preaching to our church family, even though in an empty building.
Let each of us be in prayer for one another, and for the health and protection of our nation.
I love you and will miss seeing us all together, for sure.
Please call or text me if you have any needs, prayer requests, or know of someone who has a need.
I think of the words to the song, “God be with you ‘til we meet again. By His Counsels guide, uphold you, with His sheep securely fold you, God be with you ‘til we meet again. ‘Til we meet, ‘Til we meet, Til we meet at Jesus’ feet. ‘Til we meet, “Til we meet, God be with you, ‘Til we meet again.”
God Bless You,
Pastor Whitman
